Document Description
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) proposes to replace nine (9) damaged light poles in-kind at various locations along Interstate 5 (I-5), State Route 805 (SR-805), and SR-905, all within San Diego County and south of I-8. The damage occurred because of vehicle collisions. Work activities include removal and disposal of existing damaged poles, installation of new light poles matching existing type, height, and location, reconnection of electrical service, excavation, concrete work, and traffic control within existing, disturbed Right-of-Way (ROW).

Reasons for Exemption
Class 1 consists of the operation, repair, maintenance, permitting, leasing, licensing, or minor alteration of existing public or private structures, facilities, mechanical equipment, or topographical features, involving negligible or no expansion of existing or former use.
This replacement/new bridge will be located adjacent to the existing bridge and will serve the same purpose and capacity. The existing alignment crosses the All-American Canal (AAC) using a structure (Bridge 58-320) consisting of a more than 80-year-old U.S. Bureau of Reclamation (USBOR) water flow check structure facility. The original bridge was constructed for maintenance and operations purposes and does not meet Caltrans’ safety standards
