The permit regulates intermittent discharges of secondary treated wastewater through shallow-water outfalls to San Lorenzo Creek and Alamo Canal during extreme wet weather. The permit also allows flap gate maintenance exercises at San Lorenzo Creek up to twice per year, not to exceed 450,000 gallons per discharge exercise, and up to twice per year during the wet season at Alamo Canal, not to exceed 140,000 gallons per discharge exercise.
