Document Description
The proposed project would install approximately 35.6 miles of fiber optic cable along portions of SR 96 and rural roads in the vicinity of SR 96 in order to connect to end users. An additional 7.8 miles of drops to end users with a total of 43.4 miles of fiber installation. The exact location of the proposed broadband infrastructure includes Caltrans ROW, County ROW, USFS – Six Rivers National Forest (SRF) ROW, Karuk
Trust Land, and private lands in the vicinity of SR 96. The proposed fiber optic cable would be installed primarily underground along road shoulders and/or road ROW; however, due to topographical constraints, approximately 10 percent of the fiber optic cable would be installed aerially on existing utility poles.
