Document Description
The proposed project (Project) involves the construction of a new consolidated concrete dock for Long Beach Transit Aqualink and public moorings at the southeast end of the Belmont Pier in the Belmont Pier Planned Development District (PD-2). The Project would replace two concrete docks that were damaged beyond repair in a storm event in February 2017. The previous docks (2,080 total square feet of dock area) and gangway were approved under a Coastal Development Permit (CDP 05-06-214) issued by the California Coastal Commission in 2007.

Reasons for Exemption
The new dock would maintain the same overall square footage of dock area (2,080 square feet) and linear feet of public mooring area (104 linear feet) as the existing storm damaged docks. Additionally, the replacement dock would restore Long Beach Transit Aqualink service and public mooring areas to the Belmont Veteran’s Memorial Pier.
