Document Description
The Alameda County Public Works Agency (County) proposes to install a large underground trash capture device on Castro Valley Boulevard near Lake Chabot Road in the unincorporated community of Castro Valley, Alameda County, California, in an effort to achieve compliance with the 100% trash load reduction requirement as set forth in the County’s current Municipal Regional Stormwater Permit (MRP3) with the San Francisco Regional Water Quality Control Board. The project involves construction of a cast-in-place reinforced concrete diversion structure to divert low-flow water from the existing 24” diameter reinforced concrete pipe to a new pre-cast trash capture structure, which would connect to the existing culvert beneath Castro Valley Boulevard. The entire excavation footprint (approximately 40 feet wide by 18 feet long) will be within the County road right-of-way. The maximum excavation depth will be approximately 13 feet.
