Document Description
GIC Vernon LLC is applying to the California Energy Commission (CEC) for a Small Power Plant Exemption (SPPE) for the Vernon Backup Generating Facility (VBGF), a 99 MW emergency only power system that will support the Goodman Energy Park (GEP) data center in the City of Vernon. The GEP consists of two data center buildings located near Vernon Avenue and Soto Street, with addresses at 3163 and 3049 East Vernon Avenue. The project includes forty (40) diesel generators with thirty eight (38) 3 MW units dedicated to data center critical loads, and two 1 MW house generators that supply office, building, and life safety systems during outages. The backup system is designed to operate only when electricity from Vernon Public Utility is unavailable. It will not connect to the regional transmission grid or export power. Instead, the generators are arranged in two separate generation yards, each directly tied to its respective data center building
