Notice of Exemption

Exempt Status
Categorical Exemption
Type, Section or Code
14 CCR 15301 - Existing Facilities, 15304 - Minor Alterations to Land
Reasons for Exemption
This project is exempt because the proposed activities are the repair, maintenance, and minor alteration of an existing public park, with no expansion of the existing use, which qualifies under Class 1, Existing Facilities (Title 14, Section 15301 ), together with minor alterations to land and vegetation that do not involve the removal of healthy, mature, scenic trees, which qualify under Class 4, Minor Alterations to Land (Title 14, Section 15304). The largest components of this project are a concrete walkway, earthwork to reconstruct the sports fields, and landscaping, such as trees. The project does not include any new housing or commercial structures, additional automobile lanes, nor additional parking, and it will not expand or intensify the use of the park; thus, it will not result in increased vehicle trips. Furthermore, pursuant to Section 15300.2 (Exceptions), no exception applies, and there is not a reasonable expectation that this project will cause a significant effect on the environment due to unusual circumstances associated with this project.
