Document Description
The project consists of drilling and installing five (5) additional groundwater monitoring wells to support the investigation of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in accordance with the Supplemental Site Investigation Work Plan approved by the California Colorado River Basin Regional Water Quality Control Board. The project also includes the collection and laboratory analysis of soil and groundwater samples to evaluate the nature and extent of PFAS impacts. The project is generally located in the northwestern portion of Palm Springs International Airport property, adjacent to East Alejo Road.

Reasons for Exemption
In accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), the project is exempt from environmental review pursuant to CEQA Guidelines Section 15303 (Class 3 – New Construction or Conversion of Small Structures). The project consists of drilling and installing five (5) groundwater monitoring wells to support the investigation of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). The monitoring wells are small subsurface structures that involve minimal ground disturbance and will be used solely for environmental monitoring and data collection. The project will not result in a significant expansion of existing use or create substantial operational impacts.
