Document Description
Tulare County proposes to enter into a long-term 12-year Streambed Alteration
Agreement with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) for ongoing implementation of routine maintenance activities within jurisdictional improved and unimproved stream channels and drainage facilities, and associated CDFW jurisdictional areas throughout the County. The County anticipates completing approximately 30 maintenance projects per year over the 12-year life of the agreement. Routine maintenance activities may include removal, replacement, or repair of drainage facilities; channel alignment maintenance; debris or obstruction removal; silt, sand, gravel, or sediment removal under dry conditions; vegetation control in channels or on banks; goat/sheep grazing for vegetation and thatch management; minor erosion control work; repair of previous erosion control work; and geotechnical sampling or subsurface cultural resource sensitivity testing. Exact methods, locations, and the extent of individual maintenance activities would be submitted to CDFW for review and approval through the Verification Request Form process.
