The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) has executed Streambed Alteration Agreement EPIMS Notification Number SJN-63940-R2, pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the project Applicant, Darrel Evensen / Stockton East Water District. The project is limited to the replacement of the existing Fujinaka low water crossing on Mormon Slough which has been identified as a barrier to fish passage from the lower San Joaquin River watershed to the upper reaches of the Calaveras River and New Hogan Dam.

Reasons for Exemption
Class 2 because the Project consists of the replacement and reconstruction of an existing structure of substantially the same size, purpose, and capacity. Class 33 because the Project consists of reconstruction of an existing barrier less than 5 acres in size to migratory fish passage which is intended to improve access to higher quality spawning habitat and reduce sedimentation downstream resulting from overtopping events which occur frequently due the current design of the crossing.
