Document Description
The Embarcadero Plaza and Sue Bierman Park Renovation Project (Project) would unify two adjacent public spaces into a single, approximately five-acre park at the foot of Market Street, framed by The Embarcadero, Drumm, Washington, and Market Streets. Situated at the city's waterfront gateway near the Ferry Building, Hyatt Regency, and Embarcadero Center, the site has long served as a central civic
gathering place. The Project would enhance accessibility, safety, and programming while reconnecting
the park to the Bay. The Project would improve the park with a multi-purpose event lawn and performance stage, an enclosed dog play area, outdoor fitness stations, stormwater gardens, expanded seating and picnic areas, interpretive signage, and improved circulation. The existing playground would remain. Landscaping with native and adaptive plantings would strengthen ecological resilience and stormwater management.
