The Project is funded under the State Water Resources Control Board’s Safe and Affordable Funding for Equity and Resilience Program. It includes no construction outside of the community water systems and stated funding. It would result in environmental benefits including more efficient water use and reduced strain on freshwater, helping stabilize climate-sensitive habitats, preserve biodiversity, and support the long-term recovery of sensitive species. Ongoing maintenance of the improvements will be the responsibility of the Sierra Grande Estates Mutual Water Company; regulations are applicable because it is a public water system. The Project is also subject to other applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including related to protection of the environment.
