Exempt Status
Categorical Exemption
Type, Section or Code
Class 1 Existing Facilities (CEQA Guidelines Sec. 15301 (b))
Reasons for Exemption
The project involves the repair of the basketball court surface, replacement of hoops and improvement of drainage features. The creation of accessible parking is only possible with the removal of five immature redwood stems. Redwood Park is primarily redwood forest, and removing these few immature redwoods adjacent to the basketball court to enhance accessibility is a minor alteration of the landscape. The project qualifies for an exemption under Class 1 Existing Facilities (CEQA Guidelines Sec. 15301 (b)) which allows for the repair or minor alterations of existing public facilities with negligible or no expansion of use.
