This project includes water improvements as follows: remove and inspect Well 2
components, including column pipes, electrical cables, bowl assembly, and pump / motor. Brush and bail
the well casing and repair or replace any damaged equipment to restore proper function to Well 2.
The disturbed project site has no value as habitat for endangered, rare, or threatened species; 9217
Salma Ln., Pico Rivera CA 90660 is not a designated scenic highway. The project site is not listed on
Geotracker as having an active clean-up site assessment pursuant to lists identified under Section
65962.5 of the Government Code. The project site does not impact historical resources.

Reasons for Exemption
The proposed project was reviewed for potential exemptions and was found to satisfy the standards of Class 1 as specified within Article 19 Categorical Exemptions of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Guidelines. A Class 1 exemption consists of the operation, repair, maintenance, permitting, leasing, licensing, or minor alteration of existing public or private structures, facilities, mechanical equipment, or topographical features, involving negligible or no expansion of use beyond that existing at the time of the lead agency’s determination. The City has found that the proposal consists of emergency repair of the existing Groundwater Well #2. There will be negligible expansion of the well facility associated with repair activities. No trees will be removed as part of the project.
