The proposed Critical Infrastructure Fuels Reduction Project is to clear brush, shrubs, dead and live trees that are endangering infrastructure and trim other vegetation to reduce fire danger at critical water and sewer infrastructure sites in the Arrowbear Park County Water District service area. Reasons for Exemption
The State CEQA Guidelines provide categorical exemptions for classes of projects that have been determined not to have a significant effect on the environment. The proposed Critical Infrastructure Fuels Reduction Project consists of maintenance and minor alteration of existing public utility infrastructure sites and surrounding areas for the purpose of reducing fire danger and protection existing facilities. The project involves vegetation clearance and trimming at existing water and sewer infrastructure sites and involves negligible or no expansion of existing use. CEQA guidelines section 15301(b) applies to existing facilities of publicly owned utilities used to provide sewerage and other public utility services. The District has evaluated the exceptions to categorical exemptions and determined that none apply. Therefore, the project is categorically exempt under CEQA Guidelines section 15301(b).
