Categorical Exemption Section 15306 (Class 6. Information Collection):
Reasons for Exemption
The Class 6 categorical exemption consists of basic data collection and resource evaluation activities that do not result in a serious of major disturbance to an environmental resource. The project merely extends the term of the existing MOU between the Long Beach Harbor Department and the Long Beach Utilities Department for the Long Beach Utilities Department to provide continued water quality sampling, analyses, and reporting services through September 30, 2028 for the approximately 230 miles of water transmission pipelines owned by the Long Beach Harbor Department as required by the State Water Resources Control Board Department of Drinking Water to demonstrate that potable water meets or exceeds the State’s water quality standards. The Port has determined that none of the exceptions to the exemptions in the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Guidelines Section 15300.2 foreclose the use of the categorical exemption in State CEQA Guidelines Section 15306 (Class 6. Information Collection). Therefore, the project is exempt from CEQA and no further environmental review is required.
