Document Description
This project proposes a coordinated program of invasive species removal and fire fuel reduction across multiple county parklands to enhance ecosystem resilience and mitigate climate-driven impacts including extreme heat, prolonged drought, flooding, and catastrophic wildfire. Activities will restore native plant communities and improve forest and meadow health, and reduce hazardous fuel loads across approximately 330 acres and 5 miles of trail corridors. The project is proposed for funding under a Proposition 4 grant application.

Reasons for Exemption
The project involves fuel management activities to reduce the volume of flammable vegetation. Such activities will not result in the taking of endangered, rare or threatened plant or animal species or significant erosion and sedimentation of surface waters and will not include removal of healthy/mature trees. These treatments will reduce wildfire severity, enhance habitat connectivity, and promote healthier, diverse ecosystems.
