The proposed action authorizes Capital Modification No. 8 in the amount of $233,910 to replace broken windows at the Administration Building. This action is part of a broader request that also authorizes spending in the amount of $2,425,000 and Capital Modification No. 6 in the amount of $1,428,420 to complete the Preliminary Design Phase of the Administration Building Lobby Enhancements.

Exempt Status
Categorical Exemption
Type, Section or Code
Section 15302 (Class 2. Replacement and Reconstruction).
Reasons for Exemption
The Class 2 Categorical Exemption consists of the replacement or reconstruction of existing structures and facilities where the new structure will be located on the same site as the structure replaced and will have substantially the same purpose and capacity as the structure replaced. The broken windows will be replaced in kind at the same location within the existing Administration Building with substantially the same purpose and capacity as the windows replaced. The Port has determined that none of the exceptions to the exemptions in the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Guidelines Section 15300.2 foreclose the use of Categorical Exemption CEQA Guidelines Section 15301 (Class 1. Existing Facilities) and Section 15302 (Class 2. Replacement and Reconstruction); therefore, the Project is exempt from CEQA and no further environmental review is required.
