Document Description
This project will stabilize the outlet of the existing Salt Hollow Creek culvert crossing on Road B. The existing reinforced concrete box culvert remains functional; however, the outlet wingwalls and previously installed concreted rock slope protection (RSP) have failed, contributing to roadway embankment instability and localized roadway settlement.
The project will remove the failed outlet wingwalls, failed concreted RSP, and temporary emergency sandbag wall and construct engineered RSP walls along the existing outlet embankments. An approximate 20-foot by 15-foot RSP wall will be constructed along the left bank and an approximately 25-foot by 15-foot RSP wall will
be constructed along the right bank. The RSP will be keyed into the embankments and underlain by a granular filter layer. The existing culvert barrel and invert will not be modified. Construction will occur during the dry season when Salt Hollow Creek is expected to be dry, and heavy equipment will operate primarily from the roadway. Appropriate water quality, biological resource, and erosion control measures will be implemented.
The project will provide interim stabilization of the existing culvert outlet and roadway embankment, protect existing public infrastructure, and maintain safe pµblic access until a future culvert replacement project can be implemented. Beneficiaries of the project are the traveling public.

The project consists of repair and stabilization of an existing culvert outlet and roadway embankment within an existing transportation corridor and will not expand the capacity or use of the existing roadway or culvert crossing.
