Document Description
Pursuant to Fish and Game Code section 1652, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife has approved the Cerro Alto Ranch Headcut Repair Project as submitted by the Coastal San Luis Resource Conservation District as represented by Hayley Barnes. The 950 square-foot Project will stabilize an existing headcut to curb erosion within the unnamed tributary and abate sedimentation into Warden Creek. Specifically, the Project includes the grading of the headcut, installation of a rock grade control structure, and revegetation of the disturbed area with a native seed mix. A total of 43 linear feet of stream will be affected by the Project. The Project does not include the removal of mature trees or shrubs, and Project activities will be conducted when the stream is dry. California red-legged frog (Rana draytonii) and south-central California coast steelhead (Oncorhynchus mykiss) are expected to benefit from the water quality improvements the Project will provide to the receiving watershed. Monarch butterfly (Danaus plexippus plexippus) and Crotch’s bumble bee (Bombus crotchii) are expected to benefit from the enhanced foraging opportunities provided by the Project’s seed mix, which will establish floristic species with bloom periods throughout the year.
