Document Description
The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power's (LADWP) Dry Canyon Reservoir dam is under the jurisdiction of the Department of Water Resources - Division of Safety of Dams. The latest inspection conducted in November 2024 determined that maintenance by LADWP was required. Maintenance activities will be conducted annually and will include vegetation management on the upstream slope to remove approximately one acre of woody and dense vegetation and trees at least 10 feet from the upstream toe of the dam. Additional maintenance will include vegetation clearance of a radius of 10 feet from the ungated outlet at the toe of the dam. Spoils from vegetation removal will be placed in a separate upland area approximately 500 feet east of the vegetation removal area. The vegetation proposed for removal has been previously surveyed and no sensitive resources were observed. Avoidance and minimization measures including worker environmental awareness training, preconstruction surveys and monitoring will be incorporated with construction to ensure avoidance of potential impacts.
