Document Description
Eastern Municipal Water District's (EMWD) Perris II Desalter facility uses reverse osmosis (RO) to treat salty, brackish groundwater and produce drinking water. EMWD staff identified corrosion and leaks at various places on the stainless-steel RO feed piping. These corroded materials were sampled, and laboratory testing indicated the presence of microbiologically influenced corrosion (MIC) that could not be removed with disinfection or chemical treatment. The purpose of the proposed project is to replace the entire RO feed assembly with piping resistant to MIC. The scope also includes the replacement of three unlined stainless steel cartridge filters and the addition of pressure sustaining valve to address excessive vibration in adjacent RO concentrate discharge piping. Beneficiaries of the project are EMWD ratepayers.
