Reasons for Exemption
The Proposed Project consists of modernization improvements to existing science laboratory facilities, including installation of new laboratory casework, fume hoods, student workstations, eye-wash and safety shower stations, specialized laboratory ventilation systems, electrical distribution upgrades to support laboratory equipment, and associated plumbing modifications for gas and water utilities. The Project also includes related interior finish improvements, including flooring, ceilings, and lighting upgrades. All proposed work will occur entirely within the boundaries of the existing campus. The improvements will not present a new or expanded use of these facilities. Therefore, the Project constitutes minor alterations to an existing school site that result in no expansion of use and meets the requirements of State CEQA Guidelines Section 15301 and 15302.
