Document Description
UC Davis proposes to renovate the existing raw water intake structure on Putah South Canal near Winters, CA. The project replaces equipment that is at the end of life and needs replacement. The elements being renovated or replaced include an exterior stairway, catwalk and railing, flow meter and vault, and traveling water screen. In addition, valving, electrical and control systems will be updated, and equipment access will be upgraded by installing a new gravel driveway to the flow meter and vault. The canal is managed by the Solano County Water Agency. This project is not located within the Davis LRDP area.

Minor alterations and renovations of mechanical equipment within existing facilities qualifies as categorically exempt under Exemption Class 1 of the Guidelines for the Implementation to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). This exemption applies to the operation, repair, permitting, leasing, maintenance or minor alteration of existing public or private structures, facilities or mechanical equipment, involving negligible or no expansion of an existing use. In addition, none of the exceptions for application of a categorical exemption apply to this project.
