Document Description
The project involves optimizing the life of the Pebbly Beach Landfill (PBL) site primarily through the construction of an approximately 20-foot-high Mechanically Stabilized Earth (MSE) wall placed at the toe of slope. Waste would be filled against the MSE wall and project back to the top deck at an average grade of 2:1 horizontal run to vertical rise, allowing sufficient space to construct a final cover system that would tie into a concrete v-ditch installed along the top of the wall to intercept and divert surface water to the original discharge locations. The permitted height of the PBL would increase from its current height by approximately 50 feet and site life would be increased by approximately 27.5 years. No changes to the landfill footprint, nor related to waste volume or composition are anticipated. No increase in permitted daily tonnage or traffic is anticipated. Material Recovery Facility and composting facility operations are not anticipated to change.
