Project Description
Project Locations:
Micke Grove: 11793 Micke Grove Rd, Lodi, Shumway Oak Grove: 4520 W Eight Mile Rd, Stockton, Regional Sports Complex: 7171 CA-99, Stockton. See attached Vicinity Maps.
Project Justification:
The three parks (Micke Grove, Shumway Oak Grove, and Regional Sports Complex) currently use manual ticketing for entry and exit of the park. This project was developed to modernize the fee collection process, improve transaction efficiency, and reduce traffic congestion at the entrance of the parks.
Scope of Work:
The project will consist of:
1. Installing an automated ticket system which will allow cashless payment and help track attendance for the parks.
2. Installing automatic gates where manual gates exist for Micke Grove and Shumway Oak Grove.
3. Installing a small concrete island for the Regional Sports Complex to install the automatic gate system.
Environmental Setting:
In these portions of the San Joaquin County, land usage varies from rural with single family homes to industrial.
There are many large trees adjacent to the project area. Nesting and migratory birds, protected by the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, may nest within these trees. Furthermore, the Swainson’s Hawk, a raptor species of concern within the State of California and listed as threatened may nest adjacent to or within the project area. A pre-construction survey for nesting Swainson’s Hawks and other migratory birds is recommended if construction is scheduled to occur from February 15th to September 1st.
Beneficiaries:
The public will see less traffic congestion when entering parks which will support a healthy community through efficient and reliable recreational spaces. Overall, accessing community assets will be more effective and there will be more reliability within the project area.
