Notice of Exemption

Exempt Status
Categorical Exemption
Type, Section or Code
Class 1, 3, and 4; Section 15301, 15303, and 15304
Reasons for Exemption
Pursuant to sections 15301, 15303, and 15304, of the Guidelines for the Implementation of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) of 1970, as amended, this project is determined to be Categorically Exempt (Class 1, Class 3, and Class 4) since the project scope is to add new safety barriers and ground covering to existing small infrastructure (bridge abutments). The project would include minor alterations to existing public facilities with no expansion of use and therefore qualifies for a Class 1 (Existing Facilities) categorical exemption under CEQA. The project would also involve the addition of a concrete masonry wall and new grouted riprap to establish new ground covering, constituting new construction of small structures and minor alterations to land, and therefore qualifies for Class 3 (New Construction Of Small Structures) and Class 4 (Minor Alterations To Land) exemptions under CEQA.
