The project is located near 6500 Monterey Rd, Gilroy, CA. The project includes the construction of a Pedestrian Hybrid Beacon (also known as a HAWK), high visibility crosswalk improvements, curb ramps, and minor concrete. The Gateway Senior Apartments are located on the east side of Monterey Rd and another multi-family residential development will be constructed next to the Gateway Apartments in the near future. There are commercial and recreational land uses to the north and south of the apartment complexes. There are no sidewalks on the east side of the street (to the north or the south of the apartments). The project will provide a safe crossing from the east side to the west side of the street, where there are sidewalks.
