Document Description
The applicant is proposing to establish a goat dairy at a former bovine dairy/heifer feedlot facility located at 16501 Colony Rd., Lemoore, Assessor’s Parcel Number 004-280-083. Improvements to the facility will be completed in two (2) phases: 1) onboarding and 2) expansion. The proposal for the onboarding phase includes the remodel and/or reconstruction of the existing milk barn (2,220 sf), milk house (525 sf), and holding pen (2,700 sf) to accommodate goats. A corral shade (30,900 sf) is proposed to be installed to cover the goat housing area. The herd size for onboarding is proposed to be 1,860 milking goats, 186 dry goats, and 635 support stock for a total herd size of 2,681 goats, which equates to 536 animal units (AU) for Phase 1. The proposal for the expansion phase includes constructing additional milk stations in the milk barn, adding feed lanes and shading to the existing open corrals (141,225 sf total), and constructing a commodity barn (5,500 sf) and truck scale (1,050 sf). The proposed herd size for the expansion is 4,080 milking goats, 408 dry goats, and 1,392 support stock, for a total herd size of 5,880 goats, which equates to 1,176 AU for Phase 2. The existing concrete separation pits and earthen storage ponds will continue to be used, and an incinerator will be installed for mortality management.
