Document Description
The Kern County Public Works Department proposes the Safe Route to School (SRTS) ADA Crosswalk Safety Project to install RRFB'S, thermoplastic marking, signs and ADA ramps at existing uncontrolled multi-lane crosswalks to benefit seven (7) adjacent schools. Upgrades to six (6) existing multi-lane crosswalks on arterial and collector roads in unincorporated areas of Oildale and East Bakersfield of Kern County.

The project is currently within the design phase and to be approved by the California Transportation Commission (CTC) at the August 20-21, 2026, meeting. Under Sections 21080(b)(1) and 15268 Ministerial Permit and 15061(b)(3) the Common Sense exemption of the State CEQA Guidelines. Therefore, no environmental documents were required for consideration of this action.
