Larch Clover Community Center: 11157 West Larch Road, Tracy, Garden Acres Community Center: 607 Bird Avenue, Stockton, Taft Community Center: 389 West Downing Avenue, Stockton, Gianone Community Center: 2885 East Harding Way, Stockton. See attached Vicinity Maps.
Project Justification:
Current parking lot conditions at the four community centers (Larch Clover, Garden Acres, Taft, Gianone) include erosion which cause a public safety concern. This project was developed as a way to repair the parking lots and improve the conditions of these important community assets.
Scope of Work:
The project will consist of:
1. Removing and replacing the parking lots at four community centers (Larch Clover, Garden Acres, Taft, Gianone).
Environmental Setting:
In these portions of the San Joaquin County, land usage varies but is primarily residential with single family homes.
There are many large trees adjacent to the project area. Nesting and migratory birds, protected by the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, may nest within these trees. Furthermore, the Swainson’s Hawk, a raptor species of concern within the State of California and listed as threatened may nest adjacent to or within the project area. A pre-construction survey for nesting Swainson’s Hawks and other migratory birds is recommended if construction is scheduled to occur from February 15th to September 1st.
Beneficiaries:
The public will see increased safety with new parking lots at the community centers which will support a healthy community through reliable recreational spaces. Overall, community assets will be more efficient and there will be more reliability within the project area.
