Document Description
The project consists of removing live, dead, dying and diseased trees, and reducing conifer densities by hand for fuel reduction and forest health purposes. The project area consists of 321 California Tahoe Conservancy (Conservancy) and 18 US Forest Service owned vacant urban parcels totaling approximately 103 acres (97 acres Conservancy, 6 acres Forest Service). The activity results will reduce fire threat to the adjacent community and promote increased health and vigor of the stand.

Reasons for Exemption
The project is exempt because it is a wildfire risk reduction project that consists of fuel reduction to reduce wildfire risk. This project 1) is less than 50 contiguous acres and is within one-half mile of a subdivision with more than 30 dwelling units; 2) minimizes impacts to wildlife and wildlife nursery sites, California Department of Fish and Wildlife was consulted regarding this project and responded on June 22, 2026 with no comments; 3) is designed to avoid impacts to riparian areas and water quality, and 4) will not have impacts to tribal cultural resources.
