Document Description
The Floral Drive Water Main Replacement Project will replace 1,350 linear feet of existing water main with a new 6” PVC water main between 34th Avenue and 38th Avenue in the Pleasure Point area of unincorporated Santa Cruz County. There will be one new hydrant installed at 35th Ave and Floral Dr. The installation trench will be restored with asphalt, type 2 slurry seal, and thermoplastic striping per County of Santa Cruz standards.

Reasons for Exemption
This project is exempt under California Environmental Quality Act Guidelines §15301, Class 1, Existing Facilities, for operation, maintenance, permitting or minor alteration of existing public facilities involving negligible or no expansion of existing or former use, and §15282(k), for the installation of new pipeline or maintenance, repair, restoration, removal, or demolition of an existing pipeline as long as the project does not exceed one mile in length.
Additionally, the project is not barred by the applicable exceptions for taking a Class 1 Categorical Exemption (14 Cal Code Regs §15300.2) because it would not: result in a cumulative impact from successive projects of the same type in the same place, have a reasonable possibility of a significant effect, cause damage to scenic resources within a State scenic highway, be located on a hazardous waste site, or cause a substantial change to a historical resource.
