Document Description
This project will replace existing valves and provide wet well access improvements at Slater Avenue Pump Station. Wet well access improvements include replacing existing 48-in circular wet well manhole covers with new rectangular hatches and replacing corroded existing slide gate guides with new guides. The valve replacement will replace five existing 16-inch pump check valves and three existing 6-inch wet well drain valves.

Reasons for Exemption
This project is exempt from CEQA under the Class 1 categorical exemptions set forth in California Code of Regulations sections 15301. Section 15301 (Class 1) exempts from CEQA “the operation, repair, maintenance … or minor alteration of existing public or private structures, facilities … involving negligible or no expansion of use beyond that existing at the time of the lead agency’s determination” including “(b) Existing facilities of both investor and publicly owned utilities used to provide electric power, natural gas, sewerage, or other public utility services.” The purpose of this project is to maintain functionality of the pump station by replacing existing valves and improving wet well access. The project will not increase the capacity or otherwise expand the current use.
