Document Description
The Maple Elementary School District (District) proposes to expand the existing Maple Elementary School by constructing a student garden and 4H farm, five new classrooms, a new District office and a new parking lot. All improvements will be constructed on previously disturbed land on the east side of the existing school campus. The District anticipates that the expansion will not substantially increase the current student population or staff members. It will provide an enhanced educational experience to the students and more energy efficient buildings.

Reasons for Exemption
The proposed improvements are consistent with Class 3 - §15303 (d) New Construction or Small Structures because all necessary utilities (water main, sewage, electrical, gas, etc.) will be expanded to a reasonable length from the existing school site that is adjacent to the proposed Project location. The improvements are also consistent with Class 14 - §15314 Minor Additions to Schools, as all improvements will be within existing school grounds where the addition does not increase original student capacity by more than 25 percent or ten classrooms. It offers students with new learning opportunities and new energy efficient classrooms and staff offices.
