Document Description
The City of Rohnert Park’s Demonstration Project efforts will prioritize safety, comfort and attractiveness of 0.3 miles of Adrian Drive for pedestrian/bicycle use, creating enhanced connectivity on the east side of Highway 101. Treatments will calm vehicle traffic, increase driver visibility of pedestrians and cyclists, and enhance the active transportation context on this key route that connects schools (John Reed Elementary, Technology Middle School, Technology High School) with parks (Alicia Park, Benicia Park), Girl Scouts Training Center, other youth centers, churches, and residences. Adrian Drive, between Arlen Drive and Southwest Boulevard, has a width that does not align with the residential context, encouraging speeding and driver non-compliance to stop signs, and which has a north end terminus at John Reed Elementary and a south end terminus near Technology Middle School. Over many years, residents/families and school administration have spotlighted drivers’ excessive speeds.
