Document Description
The Proposed Action entails: (1) the installation of static wireless charging infrastructure at two bus stop locations on campus: (a) Weyburn Avenue near the intersection of Weybum Terrace, and (b) UCLA Gateway Plaza, located on campus at 425 Westwood Plaza; and (2) the installation of dynamic wireless charging infrastructure at two locations along Charles E. Young Drive South east of Westwood Plaza. The dynamic charging sites would include associated electrical infrastructure such as dynamic management units (DMUs) installed in each roadway segment. each of which requires grid connectivity and the installation of coils and charging plates beneath the surface of the street, along with concrete pads. asphalt paving. and striping.

The Proposed Action is categorically exempt under Article 19, Section 15301, Class 1, Existing Facilities, because it consists of the installation of equipment in existing roadways with no expansion of use; and Section 15311, Class 11, Accessory Structures, related to the construction of minor facilities appurtenant to existing transit facilities and operations at UCLA. On a separate and independent basis, the
trenching for conduit and equipment related to the Proposed Action is exempt pursuant to Section 15304, Class 4, Minor Alterations to Land, because trenching activities would be minor and the surface would be restored to its original condition following completion.
