The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) District 4 proposes to allow Napa Firewise to perform vegetation removal activities on the southbound side of State Route 29 in Napa County between post miles 33.5-34. This work will be in partnership with Napa Firewise that will conduct vegetation management work for the Tucker Acres community and along the adjacent Caltrans’ right-of-way.

Reasons for Exemption
Class 4. (i) Fuel management activities within 30 feet of structures to reduce the volume of flammable vegetation, provided that the activities will not result in the taking of endangered, rare, or threatened plant or animal species or significant erosion and sedimentation of surface waters. This exemption shall apply to fuel management activities within 100 feet of a structure if the public agency having fire protection responsibility. Class 1. (c). Existing highways and streets, sidewalks, gutters, bicycle and pedestrian trails, and similar facilities.
