Document Description
On July 1, 2026, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) issued a Notice to Proceed to the Yurok Tribe for the Project. The Project is designed to benefit coho salmon habitat and includes construction of 4.6 acres of floodplain habitat and revegetation of 10 acres of disturbed riparian areas to bolster riparian habitat, which will create critical habitat for coho salmon.

Reasons for Exemption
CDFW has determined that the Project meets the qualifying criteria set forth in Section 21080.56, subdivisions (a) through (d), inclusive. CDFW’s determination is supported by (1) Trinity County Natural Resources Division of the Community Development Department’s August 6, 2025, initial determination as lead agency that the Project meets the qualifying criteria set forth in Section 21080.56, subdivisions (a) through (d), inclusive; and (2) pursuant to Section 21080.56, subdivision (e), the CDFW Director’s October 13, 2025, concurrence with that Trinity County Natural Resources Division of the Community Development Department determination, which is available at wildlife.ca.gov/Conservation/Cutting-Green-Tape/SERP/Concurrences.
