Document Description
Kiefer Landfill Generating III, LLC is proposing to construct a renewable natural gas (RNG) plant with a capacity of 8,000 standard cubic feet per minute (scfm) at Kiefer Landfill and a pipeline connecting the plant to existing Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) natural gas pipelines in Sacramento County. The RNG plant would process landfill gas to meet air quality standards and produce pipeline-quality natural gas (i.e., primarily methane) by removing moisture and impurities. The proposed project would also construct a new pipeline to transfer the pipeline-quality RNG from the plant to existing PG&E pipeline infrastructure, with two route options under evaluation. Pipeline Routes would be located within the public rights-of-way and/or private easements and run northwest from Kiefer Landfill along Kiefer Boulevard either to the intersection of Kiefer Boulevard/Rancho Cordova Parkway or to the intersection of Kiefer Boulevard/Sunrise Boulevard, then north along Sunrise Boulevard where it would terminate in the vicinity of the intersection of Sunrise Boulevard/Douglas Road. Either a compressor station would be constructed near the intersection of Douglas Road and Sunrise Boulevard to connect existing Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) distribution and transmission pipelines or a metering and regulating (M&R) station may be constructed in the vicinity of the PG&E interconnect on Douglas Boulevard depending on the pipeline route (APN 067-0030-079-0000 or 067-2370-018-0000).
