Document Description
The OC Conservation Corps in cooperation with the OC Parks proposes to thin, clear and remove dense vegetation undergrowth including the removal of invasive species and dead or diseased trees along the Anaheim Hills Trail in Anaheim, and the Talega Trail in San Clemente in Orange County, CA. The clearing activities will be completed with weed whips with metal blades, chainsaws, pole saws, and hand tools. The purpose of the clearing activities is to provide defensible space on and along the trails to allow for safer emergency ingress and egress for crews and equipment during wildfires and other emergencies. The activities will take place from Fall 2026 through Winter 2029.

Reasons for Exemption
The exemption provides for the minor public alteration in the condition of land and vegetation that includes fuel management activities within 30 feet of structures to reduce the volume of flammable vegetation. The minor alteration activities will not result in the taking of endangered, rare, or threatened plant or animal species, or significant erosion and sediment of surface waters, and does not involve the removal of healthy, mature, scenic trees.
