Document Description
The Department of Cannabis Control, pursuant to authority granted under Business and Professions Code, Section 26012, approved six (6) medium outdoor commercial cannabis cultivation licenses. The Project consists of a Coastal Development Permit to allow for approximately 9.5 acres of cannabis cultivation consisting of 7.86 acres of mature plant cultivation and 1.43 acres of nursery cultivation within existing, permitted greenhouses and approximately 0.21 acres of cultivation (processing and storage) within an existing, permitted storage and processing structure. The 6 medium outdoor applications being approved in this instance are replacing 9 active mixed-light licenses as the operation is removing artificial lights from the canopy areas.

The Department of Cannabis Control has determined that the project is a Class 1 Categorical Exemption project. Class 1 Categorical Exemptions consist of the operation, repair, maintenance, permitting, leasing, licensing, or minor alterations to existing public or private structures, facilities, mechanical equipment, or topographical features, involving negligible or no expansion of use beyond that existing at the time of the lead agency’s determination. None of the exceptions to this exemption defined in Section 15300.2 apply.
