The building currently used as a warehouse was formerly the Kitchen Building which is a contributor to the Porterville State Hospital Historic District. The building is eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places and is included on the state master list of historic resources. The project plans were reviewed by a Preservation Architect and determined to be in compliance with the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation, and will not have an adverse effect on the historic nature of the resources. The State has confirmed no exceptions to the exemption apply,
