The project would improve existing SamTrans bus stops within San Mateo County through the installation of standard poles, bus bulbs, or boarding islands for adding shelters, ADA accessibility enhancements, signage, and real-time systems information. Reasons for Exemption
Pursuant to Public Resources Code Section 21080.25(a)(11), Transportation Prioritization Projects include, but are not limited to: (A) "Signal and sign changes" (B) "the installation of wayside technology and onboard technology" and (E) "transit stop access and safety improvements, including, but not limited to, the installation of bus shelters, lighting, transit bulbs, and the installation of transit boarding landings and islands." Pursuant to PRC Section 21080.25(b)(3), Transit Prioritization Projects are statutorily exempt from CEQA. The SamTrans Bus Stop Improvements project is consistent with this description as the project may include features such as the installation of standard pole, bus bulbs or boarding islands for adding shelters, ADA accessibility enhancements, and signage.
