Document Description
The Project consists of the City’s annual weed abatement program within designated weed abatement areas throughout the City. The program is intended to reduce wildfire hazards and protect public health and safety through the removal and management of weeds and other combustible vegetation. The Project includes utilizing a variety of weed abatement techniques depending on soil types, topography, and land use, including mechanical methods, string trimming, mowing, and goat grazing. Additional touch-up weed abatement activities may be performed as necessary to remain in compliance with state law.

The Project is categorically exempt under Class 1 because it consists of weed abatement maintenance activities that will not result in expansion of the existing use.
No exceptions to the exemption apply under CEQA Guidelines section 15300.2. The Project is not located in an area where it may impact an environmental resource of hazardous or critical concern, will not result in significant cumulative impacts or significant effects due to unusual circumstances, will not damage scenic resources within a state scenic highway corridor, is not located on a hazardous waste site listed pursuant to Government Code section 65962.5, and will not cause a substantial adverse change to a historical resource.
