Document Description
For Water Line Replacement: Excavate a total of approx. 4,522 feet of 3-ft deep x 3-ft wide trenches within existing paved roads and install new 8-in. (290 ft.), 3-in. (3,750 ft. – with approx. 40 ft of the new attached to the under structure of the existing bridge) and 1-in. (482 ft.) water lines; For the 8-in. line install, excavate a 3-ft x 4-ft x 3-ft hole to install a utility vault for a new wharf hydrant valve; and For the 3-in. line installation, excavate to install six (6) 3-ft x 3-ft x 2-ft vaults to install six (6) gate valves. Excavate two (2) 10-ft x 15-ft by 5-ft deep pits (1 on each side of Highway 1), to directionally drill an approx. 4-ft deep by 290-ft long to install a 10-in conduit for both electrical and water lines. For the Water Treatment Plant Communications: Excavate a 3-ft x 1-ft x 3,589 ft long trench and install a 2-in. signal conduit in a shared waterline trench and excavate for nine (9) 2-ft x 3-ft x 1.5-ft vaults; and Excavate a 3-ft x 2-ft x 4,478 ft long trench and install only 2-in. signal conduit and excavate for 16, 2-ft x 3-ft x 1.5 ft vaults. At the Existing Water Storage Tanks Replace all existing inlet and outlet piping on the existing redwood water storage tanks; Install new liners in the existing redwood water storage tanks; and Install new tank ladders. At the Beach: Excavate a 50 sq. ft x 1-ft deep area and pour a 6-in. concrete pad over 6-in of drain rock to install a beach rinse shower and associated sump. For directional drilling, drilling fluid will require a safe handling and spill plan will be submitted to both DPR and Cal Trans and will require implementation of Best Management Practices. Once drilling is complete, the pits will be backfilled with native soil.
