Document Description
The 2026 Citywide Slurry Seal Project generally involves street surface treatment (slurry seal) for approximately twenty-one (21) street segments throughout the City. Specifically, the improvements consist of surface preparation; crack seal; application of slurry seal; removal and replacement of pavement striping and markings; protection of existing utility structures, curb and gutter, and cross gutter; traffic control; and other related work. The purpose of the Project is to provide maintenance to streets in fair to good condition and enhance street safety to benefit the residents of the City of Sonoma.

Reasons for Exemption
Reasons Why Project is Exempt: Pursuant to Section 15301 of the State CEQA Guidelines, the repair and maintenance of existing public facilities is Categorically Exempt from the provisions of CEQA (Class 1 - Existing Facilities). The Project involves no expansion of an existing use or creation of additional automobile lanes. Environmental review of the Project did not identify any significant effects that would occur from the Project, and the exceptions listed in Section 15300.2 of the CEQA Guidelines were found not to apply to the Project. Therefore, the Project qualifies under a class of projects that has been determined in the CEQA Guidelines as not to have a significant effect on the environment and which may be exempted.
