Document Description
Caltrans District 11 Land Surveys Division proposes to install a Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) Real Time Network (RTN) Base Station within Caltrans Right-of-Way to support the department geospatial activities in this area. This is needed by the Land Surveys division to supplement other stations in the area as part of the Caltrans Spatial Reference Network (CTSRN). This network supports geospatial positioning for Land Surveys, Construction, and other divisions in the department. This station consists of a cabinet mounted atop a small (±25 square foot) concrete pad. It will have a solar panel mounted to it. There is also a GNSS antenna mount about 15’ away, which consists of four 1” stainless steel rods driven 15’ – 20’ into the ground (1 vertical and spaced at 120°) that converge to a point about 5’ above ground. A GNSS antenna and radome are mounted atop the rods. There is a conduit running between them 1’ – 2’ below ground. Caltrans will provide its own power using a solar panel and battery.
