Document Description
The project consists of a voluntary streetscape project including sidewalk repair on both sides of Sunset
Boulevard from Monument Street to Strathmore Avenue within the Pacific Palisades Community in Council
District 11. The project also proposes the removal of nine (9) trees which includes four (4)Indian Laurel Fig
trees (Ficus microcarpa), one (1) Goldenrain (Koelreuteria paniculata), two (2) Chinese Flame (Koelreuteria
Bipinatta), one (1) African Fern pine (Afrocarpus falcatus), and (1) one Carrotwood (Cupania anacardioides)
tree. Tree replacements at a 2:1 ratio are required.

On 05/29/2026, The Board of Public Works (BPW), as reflected in the agenda and staff report (BPW-2026-0271) did "FIND that this project is categorically exempt under Section 15301, of the State Environmental Quality Act Guidelines and there is no substantial evidence the proposed project will have significant effect on the environment and is in compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). The BPW also found that none of the exceptions to the use of categorical exemption as set forth in Section 15300.2 of State CEQA Guidelines apply" and approved the project.
