Document Description
The project authorizes installation of a portable skid-mounted asphalt rubber blending plant to be temporarily located at CalPortland Garey Asphalt plant from year to year. Trucks deliver rubber contained in sacks which are emptied into the weigh hopper. The rubber is moved from the weigh hopper by a covered conveyor to the mixer where it is blended with paving asphalt that was received from the asphalt storage tank. In the mixer, oil and rubber are heated to 375F. The asphalt rubber blend is stored in a 30,000 gallon rubber storage tank prior to being sent to CalPortland’s asphalt/concrete mixing plant. The primary and secondary 30,000 gallon storage tanks are heated by two propane-fired burners rated at 1.999 MMBtu/hr and 2.700 MMBtu/hr. The plant operates on grid power.
